So Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) held a massive trans rally the weekend before last – in response to a person doing a world tour about how terrible trans rights are. I don’t want to give much space to that stuff, that’s why I’ve chosen to frame it in this way – because what I mostly felt was this incredible outpouring of love towards trans communities. There were so many people there, from a real mix of places and communities – and it was so wonderful and affirming to see people turning up for care and love for the trans community. Massive thanks to Queer Endurance/Defiance for organising it.
This is a really beautiful article, written by my friend Philip, talking about the scariness and importance of not looking away when this type of hatred comes knocking.
This is beautiful Sam
