I’m off down south this week for a mate’s wedding, so I’m putting up another story from my master’s project. Here’s part one…
Transcript –
Panel 1:
Sam: (A person wearing a blue, collared shirt and a green vest, who is sitting at a desk, facing the viewer, but looking down. Eyebrows are both raised and pushed together slightly, mouth is closed, with very slightly downturned edges. Sam is hunched forward somewhat.) Guh.
Panel 2:
Sam: (A person who is sitting at a desk, looking directly at the viewer, with raised eyebrows and an open mouth.) I started this with the idea to write something that CELEBRATED our differences.
Panel 3:
Sam: (A person who is looking directly at the viewer, with raised eyebrows and an open mouth. There is an older style TV set plugged into Sam’s head.)
(There is writing all over the screen of the TV, which reads:) Where the gay guys weren’t just the style-guru-best-friend types who never got laid. Where the gay girls didn’t kill anyone, or themselves. Where bisexuals weren’t just greedy sex-machines. And where trans people were actually shown, without being used as a punch-line (in the literal or figurative sense).
Panel 4:
Sam 1: (A person who is looking directly at the viewer, with raised eyebrows and an open mouth.) I wanted to focus on the positive stories we have.
Sam 2: (A person who is facing the viewer, but looking down and to the side. Eyebrows are pushed together slightly and mouth is open, with downturned edges.) BUT. Not all of our stories are happy.
Panel 5:
Sam: (A person who facing the viewer, but with downcast eyes. Eyebrows are raised a little, and pushed together, mouth is open with slightly downturned edges. Arms are bent up at the elbows, palms facing up.) We experience trauma, sometimes.
(The background of this panel is a dark reddish-brown, and appears to be melting.)
Panel 6:
Sam: (A person who is facing the viewer, but looking to the side. Eyebrows are pushed together a little, and mouth is open, with slightly downturned edges. One arm is raised at the shoulder, palm facing out, the other hand is on a doorknob. One leg is before the other, indicating that Sam is walking.) So do I avoid trauma?
(The half of the background which doesn’t have Sam in it is a dark reddish-brown, and appears to be melting. The rest of the background has a pale grey floor and a very pale blue wall.)
Panel 7:
Sam: (A person who is looking directly at the viewer, with one eyebrow raised and the other lowered, and an open mouth. Hands are in trouser pockets.) Do I immerse myself in it?
(The background of this panel is a dark reddish-brown, and appears to be melting.)
