So for the last few years there’s been a LGBTIQ writing competition that happens around this time of year, and is announced over pride. This year the theme was ‘The gay [LGBTIQ] community’: myth or reality?’.
I’m not sure if the theme was intentionally provocative – in terms of the brackets, and the placement of ‘gay’ at the front. But it certainly inspired me to write.
This is an edited version, and a small portion of what I wrote. It’s a bit uncomfortable, and quite negative. And, not… well… anyway… here it is.
Very powerful stuff, Sam. Thank you for writing, and for sharing.
xx Dee
Thanks Dee – wasn’t sure if I should post it or not, but I *think* I’m glad I did
AAAHHHH!!!!
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!
EEEEK! Thanks!! I’m not sure it is, but thank you <3
(it’s okay to feel unsure.
the nice thing about TRUE stuff is that it’s not dependent on belief. 😉
go be unsure of your own excellence. we just call that “humility” round these parts. =D )
Sam, as always, your comics come into being at the right moment.
Bravo. 🙂
ohhhh thanks, that means a lot!
As a new reader I love your comics. Have you thought about putting it on Tumblr or Tapas as there were lots of the queer comics are now 🙂 as I noticed you commented that your readership is down.
I’ve been promo click thru links on tumblr, but yeh that’s a good idea to just post the comic on there – I’ll give it a go thanks! And I’ll have a look on tapas too!
