So the kittens are back, and we’re all still looking for our forever homes, and we’re all very anxious about human touch. But they’re very sweet and hopefully will warm up to trusting me – at the moment they run away very fast if we make eye contact.
I feel like there’s a story here about being kind and meeting people where you can, helping on the helpees terms and not the helpers. (general) you tried the traditional home route, and that wasn’t quite right for them. You’ve still helped them, they have food and I’m assuming they’ve been neutered so their offspring doesn’t have to go through the same and you’re willing to give them time and patience and care as much as you can. Victory doesn’t always have to be linear and you’ve vastly improved those little ones lives.
Aww thanks Hannah – yeah they’ve been neutered and had their vaccinations, and if I keep feeding them I think they have a good shot of warming up, or at the very least not killing native birds. I like what you say about victory not being linear, I’ll keep that close. Thank you!
Offering hugs from the other side of the planet. I think so many of us have been where you are right now. I never really say “things will get better,” because I don’t know that they will, but I do know you’re not alone, even if some of us are very far away.
<3 <3 <3 thank you!
