Oh… oh I really want a hug now. If it makes you feel any better – I work for a mental health charity in the UK and we regularly do workshops on LGBT stuff with a big focus on trans issues 🙂
The Nightline Association. Nightlines are student run listening services at universities aimed at preventing suicide and emotional distress. The Association helps support them and provides training and stuff 🙂
That’s really cool! I volunteered with Samaritans for a bit, and the initial training included bringing volunteers up on how it’s best to not assume a person’s gender or the pronoun of their partner, not assume that they’re straight or that they are/should be monogamous, etc. Too many places don’t do that kind of thing but it’s nice when some of them do. 🙂
One of my favourite parts of training is the anti assumptions bit. We give them fake emails and get them to write a response then reveal that it was totally not what they thought.
That is depressing. I don’t understand how people can ignore parts of a community just because they want to ignore the problem. Also, you and your cat are adorable.

Ooooh, sounds intriguing – do you have examples?
It really is as depressing as hell, I agree. *big-arse sign*

Breaks my heart.
