For people outside of New Zealand – this week there were some really yuck comics published in national newspapers. It’s not unheard of – there’s a couple of high profile comic artists who have a habit of creating racist or ignorant comics. It’s super boring, especially considering the talented comic artists here.
I made a super short list for this comic, and there’s heaps more. So I’m sorry if I missed you off the list (although, if you’re a white dude I missed you off on purpose ’cause we don’t need more platforms tbh)…
Here’s where you can find the people:
- Sharon Murdoch
- Cocosolid
- Huriana Kopeke-Te Aho
- Taupuruariki Brightwell
- Fu Fighter Arts
- Jem Yoshioka
- Michel Mulipola
- Zak Waipara
- Pepper Raccoon
- Pinky Fang
- Rachel Smythe
- Ant Sang
- Indira Neville
- King Kez
- Sarah Lund
- Becky Hunt
- Ruby Jones
- Sarah Laing
- Chelsey Furedi
- Katie O’Neill
- Li Chen
- Tara Black
- Kale de Wild
- Semira Davis
- Alisha Henry
Oh sheesh, there’s seriously so many people missing from this list, and there’s already so much talent on there!!
I love how many of these amazing artists I recognise!
And every one of them is worthy of recognition!
WAIT HOW IS THIS POSTED ON DECEMBER 5TH IT’S STILL DECEMBER 4TH-
Ohhhh different timezones. Huh, I didn’t know it could do that.
Anyway, I’ve actually read your entire comic series yesterday… starting from 2010… (I went down a rabbit hole) Anyway it was very interesting seeing how far you’ve come from then! You’re almost the same age as my aunt! (which is cool because a lot of people think or act like being LGBT+ is like a trend or something that recently came up. To be honest I myself thought that nonbinary was something people made up recently, so I was suprised to see that you knew and were educated about this kind of stuff WAYYY before I was!
Oh, um, I’m Madison by the way. I’m a cis white girl who’s in a straight relationship (my boyfriend isn’t like the typical guy though, he’s cis but he’s more on the feminine side) I also have Autism and as for my sexuality, I know I like boys but I’m not sure if I like girls or not. And my autism in general makes it hard for me to figure out certain feelings- I’m sorry I rambled. I hope you’re doing well with Bob!
Oh gosh – that is a LOT to read! Some of my earlier ones are pretty bad. Thanks so much for reading, and for your comment. I think I’m still figuring out both my gender and my sexuality and I’ve been thinking about both for a very long time!
