I’ve had a pretty bad month for updates, and I’m so sorry!
It’s been a mix of ‘beginning of the year busy-ness’ and just feeling stuck about how to do a comic that feels ok. I’ve got sucked in to two big news stories; one about the trans flatmates saying Heteros need not apply, and the other about the banning (or not) of Corrections during the Pride Parade.
The comments section of these articles, and over Facebook, have been really distressing, and my heart feels really sore about it. It’s made my mental health take a massive dive, so I’d REALLY appreciate not using my comments section or Facebook posts to debate either situation, but rather to send me pics of lego, or other things that make you cheery when your heart is sore.
I’ll definitely try to be more on track with my comics too!
hopefully this helps
wait guess the embed code didn’t work, here’s the thing I tried posting https://www.youtube.com/embed/F-X4SLhorvw

*Hot Chocolate, Blankets & Lego*
This is why I minimise my news intake to shows with a comedy edge (John Oliver, ect), queer-positive news and local politics.
It’s the only way I can manage depression solidly enough to crack on with my work.
Also; I see what Cat & Lego pics I can grab.
Also also; Poly in Pictures artist, Cassian Lodge, has a Telegram page for their cat ^^
Rosa’s Channel
Rosa is a cat who cohabits with Cassian (@cassolotl).

Aww Sam 🙁 You are one of the most kick arse, awesome people on the planet so it feels only appropriate to fill your comment section (er, no awkward innuendo intended) with statements of your kick-arsery (a real word, as of now).
Lol I love my comments section being filled with statements of my kick-arsery. It’s SOOOO nice.

Pandas = heart health!
So important. Studies have shown that sneezing pandas are VERY important to one’s wellbeing.
I’m sorry, Sam! Look at this adorable little lego dragon! He wants to tell you that you are loved. 🙂

LOVE LOVE LOVE!
You comic has helped me understand my own gender identity better (I present as female for most people because of reasons but am out as bigender to my husband) and you educated me about gender issues so that I can have a healthy dialogue with my child while they explore their gender identity in a an environment that tells him that he is safe and loved as he is. which is good because when a 6 year old is still telling me that sometimes he wishes he was a girl I’m pretty sure it’s not “phase” and I’m glad I have the understanding to give him space and good information. He asks me a lot of questions about what he calls “boygirls” (genderfluid) and if they can marry and if there are any superheroes who are and lots of questions that I do my best to answer and your comics help a lot. So if you feel down know there is one child who is growing up educated and safe because of you…and a 32 year old discovered gender isn’t binary and what that meant for her.
Ohhh that is so great, it is so nice to hear from people who are parents who are non-binary, and also with kids who are exploring their gender fluidness and non binaryness too. <3
my 6 year old officially came out to me as being what they term as “not a boy but a boy/girl smoosh” and asked for gender neutral pronouns which I am respecting. Your comic and body of work and general activism made this conversation much easier for both of us and my child got to come out and come to terms with their gender identity in a loving and supportive environment. I started reading your comics when I was either pregnant or shortly after giving birth and it gave me a good framework to understand my child when it became clear early one that they were not “conforming” gender wise and I didn’t panic and just gave them room to be themselves. You brought us to this point and turned what made have been a badly confused parent handling things badly to an understanding parent who made my child feel safe. You made a genderqueer child feel safe and loved today in their home. You made that happen.
Oh my gosh, this is so lovely, it brought me to tears. Thank you so much. Your kid sounds very lucky to have you.
If I was a dog I would be that dog.
I don’t even read the comments on this comic, and I’m fucking posting one
lol <3!
I enjoy this comic as a person and as a man dfab (designated female at birth). I also enjoy this as a parent of a little girl dmab (designated male at birth). Honestly, I often wonder if gender non-conformity/trangenderism is genetically inherited as I’m quite certain from research that it has a definite biological basis. Much like I believe being non-heterosexual is most likely genetically inherited as well (as opposed to a random “quirk” you’re born with) seeing as it can run in families. In fact, being not heterosexual seems to run in my family as my mother is bi and I’m pan. My husband is also bi and cis man who is more feminine leaning. Our whole little family says be you and to heck with stereotypical gender roles. Sorry this is so long, I just feel so proud of my family that we can all be ourselves and support eachother.
I also wanted to add that comics like this are awesome because they show the world that all people regardless of any difference from the “norm” aren’t so different after all. We’re all just beings navigating life as best we can and dealing with the hand we’re dealt. So thank you Sam for helping people understand that.
OMG I think I just fell in love with your bolshy partner. We must reply to ALL comments – IN CAPS.
You should! They’re the best. THE BEST.
