So, I scanned in last week’s comic and it has magically disappeared off my computer. So this one doesn’t make as much sense as it should. I spent the last week helping to plan a hui – a national queer youth hui where we got about 200 young people from across New Zealand to come together for three days. It was madness, in the best and worst ways. As a recovery treat I decided to come down to Dunedin to help Joe finish off his move to Auckland ( yes folks, that’s right – Joe and I are soon to be reunited! I.am.so.excited.like.omg.for.realzzzz.)
TRANSCRIPT:
Panel 1:
Sam: (A person wearing a green, collared shirt and a burnt orange vest, who is facing the viewer, but looking at Joe. Eyebrows are raised and mouth is open, with upturned edges, arms are around Joe.) Darlin’! It’s so good to see you! The weekend was EXHAUSTING!!
Joe: (A person wearing a royal blue neckerchief, a lighter blue undershirt and a purple cardigan, who is facing the viewer, but looking at Sam. Eyebrows are raised and mouth is open, with upturned edges, arms are around Sam.) I’m glad to see you too!
(There are four red love hearts surrounding Sam & Joe, and behind them is a window, on the other side of which are two aeroplanes and a few small clouds.)
Panel 2:
Sam: (A person wearing a mustard yellow backpack, who is facing the viewer, but looking at Joe, with raised eyebrows and an open mouth, which has very upturned edges. One hand is bent out at the elbow, palm facing up. The other hand is in Joe’s.) It was SO wonderful ‘tho’!! There were super awesome people there, and a whole lot of trans & genderqueer people who were SO much more cooler than me. Plus there was an AMAZING performance night with poets, and songs, and drag queens, and dancing divas, and then there was…
Joe: (A person who is facing the viewer, but looking at Sam, with one eyebrow raised and the other lowered. Mouth is closed and in a straight line. One hand is closed and the other is in Sam’s.) Mmmhmm
(There are two trees and some scrub behind Sam and Joe.)
Panel 3:
Sam: (A person who is facing away from the viewer, and is further away than usual. Both arms are raised at the shoulder, one is raised a little, behind Sam and the other is raised a lot, in front of Sam.) And my workshop was cool, and I helped out heaps, and I even did a bit of MC-ing, and I got about ten hours sleep the whole time, and it was cool to see Loren, and Evan, and Jamie, and-
Joe: (A person who is facing away from the viewer, and is even further away than Sam. One arm is raised at the shoulder and bent up at the elbow, hand on the doorknob of the front door.) darlin’
Sam: Ok, sorry- I’m blathering…
(Before Sam and Joe is a house, to either side of the path to the front door, are several flax bushes, and grass.)
Panel 4:
Sam: (A person who is facing the viewer, but looking at Joe, with raised eyebrows and an open mouth, which has upturned edges.) It’s just weird being back in the real world, and realising that not everyone is queer.
Joe: (A person who is facing the viewer, but looking at Sam, with raised eyebrows and an open mouth, which has upturned edges.) Well I’m queer.
Sam: I know, love.
Joe: Help me pack?
=^_^=

Re. Getting back to the real world and realising not everyone is queer:
I KNOW, RIGHT?! I went into Hallensteins to buy myself a new shirt the day after I got back from the hui, and when I left the changing room I saw a woman with a baby in a push-chair helping her businessman husband buy new clothes. I don’t think my brain could take that much heteronormativity so soon. I’m lucky I survived the incident, really. 😛
haha oh dear! You could make them queer in your mind, perhaps they were both trans, and he had the baby, and they were then going back to their polyamorous love nest??
